Let&#039;s have some costings please.
Taking a look at the 5 hour BKK-CNX by fast rail with average speeds around 160 km/h.
Say the money is dirt cheap requiring a 3% return on investment of 210 billion baht (notice no costings for rolling stock) @ 1000 baht pe ticket that requires 6.3 million passenger trips BKK-CNX or back assuming no running costs i.e. slave labor from Burma, free electricity etc. Or 17,260 trips per day.
Current overnight sleeper tickets are around 800 baht and are those services profitable?
... Well we know how small Chiang Mai is now and to make this sort of dream a reality how we would need to boost the population by say 5 million well heeled people what is really giong on behind all this hype?</description>
